Improved Perk Almost Eliminates All Weapon Elements In Destiny 2 – How Does It Work?

There’s a new and really handy weapon perk in Destiny 2 that you should know about: Adaptive Munitions. It transforms your weapons into an all-rounder and can sometimes even hold its own in the endgame because it penetrates all shields. MeinMMO tells you how it works and which weapons you can turn into a “mini-arbalest” with it.

Here’s what makes Adaptive Munitions so popular: Everyone knows it in Destiny 2. When you encounter enemies with energy shields and you don’t currently have a weapon equipped with the right element for it, it takes forever to break the shield and deal damage.

But with the improved Adaptive Munitions perk, which is strong against all shields – whether Solar, Arc, or Void, this is easily bypassed.

  • If you use the “Adaptive Munitions” perk on your weapon, it will adjust its damage output and effectiveness against energy shields that do not match the weapon’s damage type.
  • Hits deal progressively higher damage against enemy shields for up to 600% more damage.
  • The buff is removed when hitting a matching shield or an unshielded enemy.

No wonder the weapon perk “Adaptive Munitions” is currently becoming more and more popular with the Guardians. For some, this perk is already an insider tip as a solid weapon advantage in PvE and is considered an S-Tier advantage.

Chain of Command, the Season17 Ritual Weapon, can also use Adaptive Munitions.

The perk even works in the endgame: In addition, you can definitely assert yourself with it in the endgame. Because players can also use the perk to break the shields of anti-barrier champions.

Perhaps no better than the current Exotic Anti-Barrier Champion King “Arbalest”. This “mini-arbalest variant” for weapons is still worth a closer look.

How strong is the perk exactly? After firing a weapon with Adaptive Munitions at an enemy energy shield, the weapon’s damage is immediately increased on the second shot.

stack Ordinary +% Improved +% (Crafted)
1x + 167% +200%
2x + 333% +400%
3x +500% +600%

However, this benefit does not work on unshielded enemies. However, if you use “Armor-Piercing Shells”, this increases the base damage stack by another 5%.

The following weapons currently drop with the Adaptive Munitions perk:

  • “New Destiny” – Legendary Pulse Rifle
  • “Ogma IG-6” – Legendary Pulse Rifle
  • “Chain of Command” – Legendary Machine Gun
  • “Event” – Legendary Auto Rifle
  • “Stakkato-46” – Legendary scout rifle
  • “Catastrophic”, Legendary Linear Fusion Rifle
  • “Insidious” (master version), Legendary Pulse Rifle
  • Targeted Interrogation, Legendary Scout Rifle

You can also craft the “all-rounder weapons”: Thanks to weapon crafting, which came into play with the expansion “The Witch Queen”, you can even enjoy the improved version of this perk.

  • The Improved Perk Adaptive Munitions has one damage increase per stack and the maximum damage increase is multiplicatively increased by 20%.

Ultimate Weapon Crafting Guide – How to craft your own weapons in Destiny 2

Where initially only 3 weapons could be built with it in Season 16, Season 17 has already significantly expanded the selection for crafting.

So you can assume that more weapons will be added in the future, which you can then form yourself with the improved perk “Adaptive Munitions” in the enclave on Mars.

In our testing, the Improved Perk Adaptive Munitions felt very appropriate in gameplay, especially with fast-firing weapons. In the legendary campaign, shields can be easily blown away with it and the perk was also quite effective with barrier champions in the endgame.

Even if it takes a little more time to get the maximum damage output on a shield.

What do you think of the Adaptive Munitions perk on weapons? Was it already convincing in your gameplay or did we just arouse your curiosity? Feel free to tell us in the comments.
