Real world nightmares? More like nightmares (and Easter Eggs) of the WoW tavern!

Once Pepe? With pleasure! Left on the booth in the marketplace!

The WoW developers leave no stone unturned to provide the online role-playing game with positive vibes again. The stretch to here, into 2022, which is actually after the Shadowlands end patch dry spell nor WoW: Dragonflight should appear, was also more than rocky; in particular, this is due to real-world events such as the pandemic and the allegations of sexism at Activision Blizzard. So it’s time for us, active and inactive veterans of World of Warcraft, to see the game again for what it is: a varied pastime!

WoW: The Tavern – new promo video about real world nightmares

This is probably also the thought behind the new advertising clip for World of Warcraft (buy now ), in which the folks at Blizzard invite us to visit a crowded tavern. Apart from the main theme of the clip – a warrior has nightmares about our real world and small dark portals – the short film is also full of funny (and sometimes scary) details that every WoW fan should judge with a smile or a benevolent nod.

Pepe!

The most popular birdie of Azeroth has a cameo right at the beginning of the scene where you can see the village square and the two heroes carrying a gnoll’s huge paw under their arm. Pepe is crouching on the stall on the left behind the booth with the alchemy goods. Speaking of which, it soon becomes apparent that this gnoll is none other than Hogger.

Fun fact: So it can be assumed that the scene in Elwynn Forest in Goldshire takes place in the famous and notorious Lion’s Pride tavern. After all, wanted posters about Hogger would probably be posted there. At least Stormwind Cathedral can be seen in the background. But it’s a pity that the place in the clip actually has nothing in common with the local conditions in the game.

Not only do you see the posters for Hogger and the Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Contest, but you also see a carrot on a stick!

The carrot on a stick!

One of the few and most popular classic pieces of jewelery also makes an appearance. Because next to the poster with Hogger and the advertisement for the Fishing Contest in Stranglethorn is a carrot on a stick. The carrot, as many veterans will remember, was particularly popular in Classic because it was one of the few gems the game had to offer. Especially since the riding speed increased with the carrot. It was not uncommon for heroes from Vanilla WoW to wear the piece of jewelry themselves into high level 60 “age”.

You can also find a Kul Tiran in the tavern. However, less stocky than in the game.

The tabard of Kul Tiras!

As soon as you enter the tavern, when the Hogger butchers are greeted by the waitress with a cheerful “The light bless you”, a Kul Tiran can be spotted to the right behind the table with the night elf and the engineering-oriented dwarf. So… must be one. Why else would he wear the tabard of Kul Tiras?

Mana cake anyone?

The cake is not a lie!

Portal references can also be found in Azeroth from time to time. And in this scene you not only see handsome elves and what appears to be a sheep forgotten by a magician, but also a cake! From the look one could conclude, which brings us back to the magicians, that there is a Conjured mana cake could be – at least that’s what we infer from the strawberry decoration. However, it could also be one of the many other items with a mana cake icon, such as a punch cake. However, the pink icing is missing. Or in the tavern it’s very, very dark.

The Glowing Purewood Staff!

Apart from the fact that the two protagonists of the clip talk about how boring real life actually is, how much time people waste using their smartphones (dark portal, yeah) and that the hopeless fight against middle management is the certainly reminded one or the other fan of the real-world conditions at Activision Blizzard … everyone will probably have noticed the Defias suddenly invading the tavern. And when the warrior’s interlocutor stands up, we can also admire her staff in all its glory. Coincidentally the Smoldering Purewood Staff?

We don’t mean to offend elves, but…

… what the heck got into the void elves on the left side of the picture? If something in the WoW commercial looks like it came straight out of a nightmare, it’s this comrade! In general, the people in the spot seem to have had an easier job with the dwarves than with the elves, who all kind of look like they’re made of plastic. What do you think of the promotional clip for World of Warcraft? Most players are enthusiastic because the spot is not only funny, but has some connection to reality. PS: Sorry for the lousy picture quality oO
