After five successful films in the James Bond series, actor Daniel Craig has set a new standard for Her Majesty’s most famous secret agent. But who will follow after Craig? What does the future of Ian Fleming’s James Bond look like? According to producer Barbara Broccoli, no new Bond film will be in the works for the next two years – the secret agent must be reinvented.

There are already 25 films about the action-packed and dramatic adventures of secret agent 007 aka James Bond – the 25th film “James Bond 007: No Time To Die” represented the end of the Craig era. Since 2006, the Brit Daniel Craig has portrayed the most famous secret agent in the service of Her Majesty in the Eon film series; According to rumours, it should have ended after just four films. But as is often the case: for certain reasons you can’t separate after all. But what does the future of 007 look like now; that striking gentleman figure once invented by Ian Fleming? According to producer Barbara Broccoli, at least no new film will be in the works for the next two years.

The reinvention of James Bond

At a British Film Institute gala on June 29, 2022, Broccoli appeared alongside other well-known actors from the past 007 films and revealed that fans of the smart secret agent will not be able to work on a film should calculate. To the authors of Deadline Broccoli said (translated): “No one is in the running. We are working on how to proceed with him, we are discussing that. There is no script and we cannot submit one until we have decided how we will do it want to tackle the next film because it’s really a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time. I’d say filming is at least two years away.”

A reinvention of Bond? But wasn’t that the case with Daniel Craig in Casino Royale and the story arcs based on it? Finally, Bond, who was already considered to be quite sexist, changed into a Bond that was no longer quite so sexist. Taking the heartthrob part out of the character entirely would probably be odd. But at least the women didn’t all immediately lie down on the sheets at a snap of Craig’s Bond’s fingers.
