eFootball PES takes an important license away from FIFA 23!

The Italian football club Inter Milan has an exclusive contract with konami signed for the eFootball games. This means that the renowned club in FIFA 23 won’t show up. The contract initially only runs for them Season 2022/23. As the club’s official “video game partner”, the logo of the eFootball series will also feature on Inter Milan’s tracksuits and pre-match kits for the upcoming season. The youth academy will also be referred to as the “Konami Youth Development Center in Memory of Giacinto Facchetti” at times. The club announced all this on its website and also noted that the logo would be visible beyond the coming season. A continuation of the partnership between Inter Milan and Konami seems more than realistic.

The revolving door at Konami

Recently it was announced that the deal between Konami and the football club Juventus is terminated. Accordingly, it seems like Konami tried to fill this gap in the Italian soccer market. So fans of the FIFA games can most likely look forward to a return from Juventus Turin but have to say goodbye to Inter Milan. To what extent this actually represents a larger quo for Konami remains to be seen. After all, past FIFA games were absolute box-office hits even without the fourth-placed team in the last Serie A Electronic Arts.

In terms of marketing, the loss of the FIFA name may become more relevant for EA in the future. We have already reported on the end of the FIFA series and the resulting name change. From 2023, the football titles are to be published under the “EA Sports FC” banner. FIFA 23whose release date may have already been leaked, will most likely continue to bear the well-known name.
