The graphics style seen in the recently released gameplay trailer Return to Monkey Island has caused a mixed response from series fans. Ron Gilbert has faced a large number of personal attacks on his blog from users who are unhappy with the graphic style and in particular the animations of the scenes shown.

Now he has Monkey Island– Creator blocked the comments section, temporarily Gilbert’s blog even offline. The relevant comment of his was made by Guybrush voice actor Dominic Armato shared on Twitter.

I’m closing the comment function. People are just mean and I need to delete comments with personal attacks. It’s an incredible game that everyone on the team is proud of. Just play it or don’t play it, but don’t screw it up for everyone else. I will not post anything more about the game. I’ve lost the fun of sharing something about it.
