Skate 4: There’s a new trailer and you can try the skateboard sim soon

Skate 4 seems to be making good progress – but still needs it.

With Skate 4, EA has a completely new skateboarding game in the works. However, the project has been very quiet lately, so some fans may have been worried. These are now being smashed with the release of a new trailer. You can see some concepts with placeholder skaters and environments in the video, which honestly reports on the progress of the development. Towards the end, however, we also get an impression of what the finished product could look like:

Skate 4 is slowly gaining momentum

Here’s what we know about Skate 4 so far: About a year ago, EA confirmed that Skate 4 was in the works at newly formed studio Full Circle. Much more is not known so far, except that there should probably be an open world in which we can interact with each other. There will also appear to be a lot of content created by the community. How exactly that should look like, however, remains open.

Is the real reveal coming this month? EA will not hold a big games show a la EA Play this year. Instead, according to insider Tom Henderson, three games will be presented with their own presentation in July. One of those titles is said to be the next skate. However, it’s not entirely clear if the update video above already counts as a presentation or if we’ll see more of the game this month.

Register for the playtest: On the EA home page you can register as a skate insider. If selected, you will have the opportunity to participate in closed betas. The feedback should then have a direct influence on the development. There are currently no dates for the playtests.

We said we’re back and we’re still working on it, but it’s about time you saw what we’ve been up to. It’s early days but we want to do everything right and that means we want to bring you on board.

When will Skate 4 be released? A release in 2022 is rather unlikely. The current video also suggests that the development is still at a very early stage. But since at least a beta is already in prospect, the studio should have something to offer. As of now, we would bet on a release in 2023.
