The Evil One: The Man with the White Eyes: Action-Adventure based on the book of the same name announced

In the action-adventure The Evil One: The Man with the White Eyes, a lone man brings justice to Warsaw.

RedDeer.Games announce the development of a video game based on Leopold Tyrmand’s cult thriller “The Evil One”.

The isometric action-adventure will take players to a post-war city in the process of rebuilding, filled with jazz, swing, romance and crime.

The game is being developed in collaboration with Destructive Creations, makers of War Mongrels, Ancestors Legacy and Hatred.

RedDeer.Games has been granted a modern 20-year license to adapt Leopold Tyrmand’s book and build a world inspired by The Evil One. Developers have started work on the game based on the author’s most famous novel, hailed as “the most popular crime story in the People’s Republic of Poland (PRL)”.

In the ruins and construction sites of 1950s Warsaw, a white-eyed stranger brings justice to hooligans, thieves and organized crime on his own. Where the power of the militia is not enough, the citizens can rely on the bad guys.

However, the underworld has woken up and is preparing a scheme that could lead to serious trouble in the resurgent city. Tyrmand’s noir story is the perfect setting for a game steeped in a dark and disturbing atmosphere.

Michał Maciej Lisiecki, Co-Founder and CEO of RedDeer.Games said: “The bad guy is often referred to as the Polish Batman – this comparison has already shown the potential of the novel. Tyrmand dedicated his book to the city of Warsaw, and we also want to show the city rising from its ruins. For an international audience it will be called Bad City and often referred to as the city with a capital C. Fans of the novel have nothing to fear – we will certainly convey the unique atmosphere of the underworld, streets, gates and buildings of the capital, while ensuring accessibility for players outside of Poland. I’m proud of the team that envisioned early on how we could build not just the game but the whole world we call the “Multiverse” as technology dynamically evolved and new uses emerged. We will bring it closer and reveal it in the next few steps.”

The game The Evil One: The Man with the White Eyes will be an action-adventure with 7-10 hours playing time, about 50 tasks and 6 big locations. It is developed on the Unreal Engine 5 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Versions for other platforms will be confirmed at a later date.
