WoW Patch 9.2.7 is coming, connects auction houses and brings chat channel for boosting

A new patch for World of Warcraft has appeared on the PTR. The changes sound small, but could have a big impact.

Mentally, most players have already completed World of Warcraft Shadowlands and everyone is talking about the next expansion, Dragonflight. But Blizzard apparently wants to push a small patch between and make a few changes.

The upcoming patch 9.2.7 is now on the PTR and changes the auction house and rules for boosting services.

What will be changed at the auction house? After Blizzard connected the Horde and Alliance auction houses on the same realm quite a while ago, Patch 9.2.7 brings even more serious changes:

Trade in consumer goods is expanded to cover the entire region. So in the future you can get your herbs from players all over Europe and thus have a much larger offer – but at the same time more competition as sellers. This applies in particular to:

  • Crafting Materials (Ores, Leather, Herbs, Cloths, etc.)
  • Consumables (flasks, potions, buff foods, jewels)

All items that do not count as “commodities”, i.e. “everyday items”, are not affected by this connection. These are pieces of equipment.

Good opportunities for wholesalers? Auction houses will become multi-region.

What is this boosting channel? Blizzard is introducing a new chat channel, namely “Trade (Services)”. In the future, this channel will be used so that people can offer their boosting services or search for them specifically. If you want to accompany other players through difficult dungeons and want to do it for gold, you can apply here without resorting to other chat channels.

Isn’t boosting forbidden?
No, basically boosting is allowed in World of Warcraft. You may “pull” other players through content or be dragged by other players. However, these services may only be paid for with in-game currency – such as gold.

The intention behind this is to bundle boosting offers and inquiries into one chat channel, which you can then simply switch off if necessary. This should free up the trade chat again, which can then be used for traditional trades such as selling items – or for the daily “Did someone say Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker?” game.

When is the patch coming out? There is no exact release date for patch 9.2.7 yet. However, it can be assumed that the patch will also go live in the near future, because it also brings with it the announced nerfs for warlocks. Since the current season only lasts about 4 weeks, this should also be the period in which the patch will appear.

However, it would also be possible for Blizzard to “outsource” the Warlock adjustments and simply make them part of a hotfix after testing them on the PTR.

As soon as there is an official release date, we will report about it.

Are you looking forward to the changes like the linking of the auction houses? Or is the “boosting channel” a step in the wrong direction? Let us know in the comments!
