EA seems to have divided views on whether a single player campaign is a good idea for an upcoming Battlefield installment. While a new design director is being sought solely for the title’s campaign, fans of the single-player campaigns are being mocked on Twitter. Read more about this below.

Battlefield 2042 is the first installment in the series in a long time that doesn’t have its own single player mode where you can play against AI opponents within a story. According to EA, the focus of the title was instead on the multiplayer mode, which the majority of players still received very poorly. Nevertheless, EA sees itself strengthened in this decision and makes fun of the single player mode and its “ten” fans in a new tweet.

At the same time, the company is looking for a new design director for its Seattle office, who will apparently exclusively design a campaign for a new Battlefield. Literally, it says that the applicant should “manage the design team and develop a vision for a new Battlefield campaign.” This includes mission design, game mechanics, a believable narrative and other systems designed to create a compelling immersion. The applicant should internalize the basic principles of the franchise and design a masterful single-player campaign.

Electronic Arts therefore expects an experienced design director who has already developed several campaigns for other titles and is ready to take on a completely renewed Battlefield campaign as part of the team. Good cooperation with other studios, which are probably also working on the new title, is mentioned as a requirement. EA does not advertise an expected salary for the new position, but advertises health insurance, reimbursement of tuition fees, a company pension scheme, free computer games and a good working atmosphere.
