Best Mini Power Bank: More battery life on the go
A mini power bank fits in almost every trouser and jacket pocket. With the tiny battery, you can charge your smartphone when needed without having to rely on a power outlet.

A conventional power bank with a capacity of 20,000 mAh can weigh 500 grams and more – impractical when you’re on the go and don’t want to carry anything heavy with you. This is where the mini power banks come into play: They are very small and light, but always provide power for the smartphone.

What you should consider when buying a mini power bank
With mini power banks you have to make compromises, the small dimensions inevitably lead to relatively low battery capacities. You should also pay attention to the following when making your selection:
- connections: Most mini power banks still have the classic USB-A connection. If you need Lightning, USB-C or even Micro-USB, suitable adapter cables are available separately.
- charger: Mini power banks are inexpensive. Also because the manufacturers do not use power packs to charge the external batteries. You can use normal USB power supplies or that of your smartphone.
- capacity: Mini power banks typically have capacities between 2,000 and 5,000 mAh. This is usually enough to extend the battery life of your smartphone and, depending on the model, even double it.
- comfort functions: Mini power banks often do not offer fast charging functions such as USB Power Delivery or Quick Charge 3.0. You have to accept that. On the other hand, overcharging and overheating protection are standard for the external batteries. You should not expect much more comfort.
- weight: Power banks with a weight of around 100 grams are pleasantly light and fit in almost any jacket or trouser pocket. Lithium polymer power banks are lighter than lithium ion battery models.
