Toxic fans are harassing the creators of God of War 2, who feel compelled to release a statement about it.

It feels like almost the entire gaming world is waiting for God of War 2: Ragnarök – or for Sony Santa Monica to finally announce a release date. It was rumored to be happening last week, but was probably postponed. However, because some people seem to have neither patience nor manners, they harass the people behind the game, sending dickpicks without being asked and threatening them. Which has now led to several statements denouncing the behavior and demanding respect.

God of War 2 studio demands respect after week of harassment

What’s the matter? God of War 2: Ragnarök doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s already causing a lot of hype. Unfortunately, there are also various people who lack any degree of impulse control and are now bothering the developers because they cannot be patient and the anticipation has apparently gone to their heads. That’s why developers, producer Cory Barlog and the developer studio’s account are now speaking out on this matter.

Toxic fans apparently sent dickpicks, threats and more to the makers of God of War 2. Which, of course, those affected are right to get upset about. There is simply no justification for this and it is sexual harassment, which is not only completely wrong, but also punishable by law. Accordingly, the producer Cory Barlog reacts to a corresponding tweet that denounces this: He demands respect.

The official Twitter account by developer studio Sony Santa Monica basically says the same thing, just with fewer swear words and a little more explanation. The statement tweet states, among other things:

“Our fans inspire us and we understand the passion and the need for more information. But that passion shouldn’t become toxic or come at the expense of anyone’s dignity. Let’s celebrate our community by supporting each other, all gamers and developers equally, treat with respect.”

We can only agree with that. Anyone with such toxic impatience for the next God of War should find something else to do than harass the people who are making the game they profess to love.
