Half-year balance sheet 2022: 18 millionaires and a record profit

Munster/Essen.
18 millionaires and a new German record profit of 110 million euros: these are the highlights of the first half of 2022 at WestLotto.

New German record profit

The record sum of 110,213,537.30 euros was won on May 20th in North Rhine-Westphalia through an Internet bet in the Eurojackpot lottery. For the first time, the magic threshold of 100 million euros was exceeded. The fact that this is possible has to do with the new maximum jackpot at Eurojackpot. This was raised from the previous 90 million euros to a possible 120 million euros on the 10th birthday of the lottery in March 2022.

With the product change, a second drawing day was also introduced: players now have the chance to win millions twice a week. In Helsinki, Finland, lucky numbers don’t just roll through the “Venus” and “Opale” draw machines on Fridays, but also on Tuesdays.

Three millionaires a month

Altogether, WestLotto was able to turn a proud 18 players into millionaires with WestLotto products such as LOTTO 6aus49, Eurojackpot, GlücksSpirale and the Spiel 77 additional lottery.

Rhineland well ahead of Westphalia

In recent years, the Rhineland and Westphalia have often been in a head-to-head race for the top position in WestLotto’s winning tally. This time, however, the first half of the year speaks a clear language in favor of the Rhinelanders. While 57 players in Westphalia have so far been able to enjoy high winnings in at least a six-figure range, 75 tipsters have already been successful in the Rhineland. In addition, there are another 16 lucky winners who were able to win through commercial game brokers.

County level results

When comparing the districts and urban districts, Krefeld is in the lead with nine high winners so far. Cologne holds second place with seven big wins. The Bonn area, the Recklinghausen district and the Rhein-Erft district made it onto the winners’ podium with six hits each with a winning sum of 100,000 euros or more.

Millions of payouts

In the current year, around 24.2 million one to nine-digit winnings were paid out across all gaming orders (excluding scratch cards and ODDSET). Behind this is a total prize money of around 411.7 million euros. One in five prizes won by the state lottery companies went to North Rhine-Westphalia.
