The first Horde Alliance team in the WoW universe… that wasn’t Thrall and Jaina

WoW: Trucker turns his vehicle into WoW artwork (1)

Since the release of WoW Patch 9.2.5, normal 0815 WoW heroes, no matter which faction they belong to, can collaborate together and smack raid bosses in the skull. Horde and Alliance, a few veterans will think so when they see it, it’s not what it used to be either… but is that true?

To find out, it’s worth taking a look at the new WoW video by the machinist and lore guru PlatinumWoW, which he published on July 1, 2022 and is therefore still fresh. The video revolves around the first-ever collaboration between a member of the Horde and one of the Alliance… and no, the dream team isn’t Jaina and Thrall and weird fanfiction thoughts of smooching under the Kalimdor sky. No, the Warcraft book “Of Blood and Honor”, which was written by Chris Metzen himself and published even before Warcraft 3, is about the unexpected acquaintance that Tirion Fordring makes with the orc warrior Eitrigg – and that’s how it is seen represents the first-ever collaboration between Horde and Alliance.

Tirion, a member of the Paladin Order of the Silver Hand, once presided over Hearthglen as governor; at a time when most orcs were held in internment camps after the Second War. When rumors of an approaching orcish threat arose, Tirion patrolled the borders of his realm to find out if the news was true. As he passed an abandoned watchtower, he discovered – Potzblitz! – an orc, namely Eitrigg. The two fought a duel, but an honorable one. Tirion was pushed into the ruined tower by Eitrigg and the tower collapsed on the paladin. Eitrigg decided to dig up Tirion and put him on his horse.

Tirion’s trusty mount found its way back to Hearthglen, where the paladin was tended. The inhabitants of the settlement feared that a horde of orcs would come to the city, while Tirion tried to allay the fears. But that didn’t help. While Tirion, impressed by Eitrigg’s honorable conduct, sought out the orc for an interview, the paladins of the Silver Hand invaded Hearthglen and, upon his return, forced Tirion to reveal the orc’s whereabouts.

The most unfair trial ever?

It came as it had to: Eitrigg was arrested and sentenced to death. Tirion was arrested and had to answer before a court of treason. It was decided that Tirion would be deprived of all light and possessions. From now on he would have to live in exile. But honor is very important to Tirion. And so he moved to Stratholme and tried to free Eitrigg…but it was too late. Eitrigg had been hanged.
