Asus ROG Phone 6 & 6 Pro want to revolutionize mobile gaming

offer

Asus has now presented its new gaming flagships, the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro. As is typical for the ROG series, powerful hardware that is specially tailored to mobile gaming is installed in both smartphones. The differences between the Standard and Pro versions are surprisingly small.

The heart of both variants of the ROG Phone 6 is the powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip. In the standard model of the ROG Phone 6, the processor is supported by up to 16 GB of RAM. Here is the first difference to the Asus ROG Phone Pro. This edition offers 18 GB of RAM. And there is also a small but subtle difference on the back of the smartphone.

ROG Phone 6 Pro: 2-inch OLED display shows status

According to the official website, the ROG Phone 6 features an illuminated ROG logo on the back. Users who opt for the ROG Phone 6 Pro, on the other hand, get a small OLED display. This displays up to six different status messages. These include “Screen on”, “X-Mode” (enabled gaming mode), “Accessories”, “Charging”, “Gameplay” and “Incoming call”. Furthermore, users can create animations for the 2-inch display.

There are no other differences between the two ROG Phone 6 models – with the exception that the ROG Phone 6 is also available with 256 GB of storage in addition to the 512 GB internal storage option. The Pro version only comes with 512GB of storage. The AMOLED display of the gaming smartphones measures 6.78 inches and offers a resolution of 2448 x 1080 pixels. A refresh rate of 165 hertz and a touch sampling rate of 720 hertz ensure smooth gameplay and direct touch inputs.

The battery of the two ROG Phone 6 models has a capacity of 6,000 mAh, which should ensure long gaming sessions. The battery can be quickly charged with up to 65 watts. The camera setup consists of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The selfie camera offers a resolution of 12 megapixels.

The ROG Phone 6 (Pro) has these gaming features

In addition to the powerful hardware, the new ROG phones also offer some exciting gaming features. With AirTrigger 6, the “virtual shoulder buttons” with ultrasonic sensors are once again on board. Asus has further optimized the shoulder buttons and even added more control types. For example, the crosshairs in games can now be controlled via the gyroscope sensor when an AirTrigger is held.

X-Haptic is intended to provide strong haptic feedback when gaming and thus more immersion. The well-known X-Mode, a high-performance gaming mode, is also available again. Asus has developed improved cooling technology to prevent the ROG Phone 6 (Pro) from overheating when playing games. By splitting the battery into two parts, a centrally placed CPU and a larger vapor chamber, the gaming smartphones should stay cool even when gaming.

Availability, price and accessories

The Asus ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro will be released on August 8, 2022. The cheapest version of the ROG Phone 6 with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage costs 999 euros. The ROG Phone 6 Pro with 18 GB RAM and 512 GB storage should cost 1,299 euros.
