Is What Remains of Edith Finch getting a rewrite? A hint from Taiwan at least suggests that there might be a re-release.

Released in 2017, the indie game What Remains of Edith Finch was an absolute favorite of critics and fans around the world at the time. A meta score of 88 speaks for itself.

Now it seems that the publisher Annapurna Interactive is planning a new edition for the Xbox Series X. This is at least indicated by a planned age rating on the Taiwanese website “Game Software Rating Regulations”. An evaluation is not yet available, but the mere naming indicates a possible new release.

The game didn’t have native 4K support at launch and ran at just 30 FPS; an upgrade is therefore quite conceivable. Whether this will then be free for owners of the original version cannot be answered at the moment. A release date is also not foreseeable.

In the game, Edith was investigating his orphaned childhood home. Within this, the death of the respective family members was revealed in a bizarre and brilliant way. Each person gets their own complex story, including their own “world” (which actually only exists in the respective room). By the way, Xbox Game Pass holders can get a taste of the game at any time, since it is included in the subscription.
