Konami: Relist of old titles for the 35th anniversary of the Metal Gear series

Konami (Unternehmen) von Konami

To celebrate Metal Gear Solid’s 35th anniversary, Konami says it’s preparing to relist old titles in the series that were previously withdrawn from sale.

This emerges from a brand new Twitter post by the Japanese game developer. Although there is no concrete information about which parts of the series it is supposed to be, several assumptions can be made.

Konami is bringing old Metal Gear games back to stores

Only at the end of last year did Konami remove both Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from the digital providers’ sales lists. This was primarily due to expired licenses for historical footage used in both games. However, the developer assured us even then that they would work on placing both titles in the virtual shop windows again in the future. There was no further information on this until now.

Now it can be assumed that the Metal Gear Solid titles that have been put back on sale are likely to be just those. Traditionally, fans of the franchise have been plagued by the series’ rather difficult accessibility on current consoles. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is the only game in the series so far that you can enjoy on both PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

However, according to a rumor from last year, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 is also in development, which hasn’t been announced yet either. Most recently, Konami updated the trademark rights for Silent Hill, unleashing an avalanche of wild speculation about a new installment in the horror series.
