When is the Nintendo Switch too hot?
Temperatures above 30 degrees are expected in Germany next week. Nintendo has now released a heat warning for the switch. When is the console too hot?

Too high temperatures can damage the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has in one series of tweets pointed out that the console should only be used in environments with a temperature below 35 degrees. Otherwise, the console would have to go into sleep mode to protect itself.
In addition to a maximum temperature, Nintendo also specifies a minimum value that should not be undershot. On the social media platform one writes:
“If you use the Nintendo Switch in a hot place, the temperature of the console may become too high. Only use the device in places with temperatures between 5 and 35 degrees. […] Note that the device can automatically hibernate when the temperature gets too high to protect the console. When playing in TV mode, place the Nintendo Switch docking station in a location where it will not overheat.”
The warning comes at the right time, because temperatures above 30 degrees are expected in many areas of Germany in the coming week. In these cases, the Switch should probably only be used indoors.
In addition to the heat warning, Nintendo also provides information about blocked vents on the console and how to clean them:
“The device can also become hotter if the air intake and exhaust vents are blocked. Ensure good ventilation around the vents. […] If foreign matter or dust adheres to the unit’s air intake and exhaust vents, remove them with a vacuum cleaner or the like. For safety reasons, the console must not be disassembled.”
