WoW: The Tale of the Green Dragonflight

The Green Aspect Ysera prefers to take the form of a night elf. In battle and in the Emerald Dream, she transforms into a dragon.

Millions of years ago the titans came to Azeroth (the WoW game world in case you don’t know ^^). They defeated the Old Gods and created new life. When their work was complete, they assigned the task of protecting Azeroth to the dragonflights, the mightiest and greatest beings on the planet. They gave each leader of each dragonflight a portion of their power. This is how the Dragon Aspects were created. Since then, the dragonflights have watched over the fate of Azeroth.

Like the red dragons, the green flight is dedicated to life on Azeroth. They ensure harmony between nature and mortal creatures. And they do it in a very special way. Unlike the other swarms, the green dragons are only partly beings of Azeroth. Their true home is the Emerald Dream. A kind of parallel world in which Azeroth exists in its most original form. No mortal being ever interfered with the dream. From here the Green Dragons can influence the evolution of Azeroth and heal nature. And here they also receive their visions. The Greens are closely connected to the spiritual world, to “what could be”. In their dreams within the Emerald Dream, they see the fate of Azeroth.

The aspect of the Green Dragons is Ysera, called the Dreamer. She is the mistress of the Emerald Dream and is more closely linked to it than any other of her kind. Like her sister Alexstrasza, she received her power from the titan Eonar. Although the Greenflight has the largest population of any dragon race, they are rarely seen. Most of the time, the dragons and their mistress stay in the Emerald Dream and only come to Azeroth together in exceptional cases.

In the War of the Ancestors, the Greens joined their brothers and sisters in fighting the Demons. This is how Deathwing’s betrayal hit her. Using the Demon Soul, he banished all dragons and turned against his own kind. However, thanks to the blue dragons who were able to resist the ban, Deathwing and his black flight were driven off. And the Burning Legion could also be defeated. Following the battle and the division of Kalimdor, the dragons made a special gift to the night elves. Illidan Stormrage had secretly created a second Well of Eternity on Mount Hyjal. From the first source, the followers of Azshara had drawn power to create portals for the Burning Legion. So that such a disaster could not happen again, the dragons decided that this second source had to be closed.
