WoW Dragonflight: Temple of the Jade Serpent & Court of Stars
During a group interview with Wowhead, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas revealed that Temple of the Jade Serpent (Mists of Pandaria) and Court of Stars (Legion) will return as Mythic Plus dungeons in Dragonflight Season 1.
As explained by Ion Hazzikostas, the intention of this dungeon rotation is to keep Mythic+ fresh across the different seasons of Dragonflight, much like a new raid tier is an entirely new experience from the last one. By rotating four new dungeons and four previous expansion dungeons each season, the content is less likely to feel outdated. Below is an excerpt of the Interviews with Wowhead.
Can you explain your intentions with the new expansion regarding the Mythic Plus pool? You guys are obviously experimenting now with bringing back keys from previous expansions. I just wanted to know if you guys plan on continuing this or are you waiting to hear feedback on it this final season?
That’s definitely the path we’re going to take for Dragonflight Season 1. We are already in the process of updating old dungeons. A pool of eight dungeons is planned for the first Mythic Plus season: four new Dragonflight dungeons as well as some old fan favorites from years past – a few examples are the Temple of the Jade Serpent from Mists of Pandaria and the Court of Stars from Legion to make everyone go back and “Guess Who?” can play.
We’re really excited to revisit some old dungeons while having a structure where a new Mythic Plus season can really mean as much variety as a new raid tier. There will be new challenges, new rewards, and a whole new set of issues to solve, which frankly also serves as a small reset of what the community has known so far, and should ensure a smoother entry point for players breaking into the scene.
