WoW: Alexstrasza’s new in-game model – really bad or cool?
New additions to WoW are often a great way for developers to give familiar faces from the world of Azeroth a new look. Iconic characters like Jaina, Anduin, Sylvanas, Thrall & Co. have received many rejuvenation treatments over the years – which does not cause applause for every player. Humans are creatures of habit, so new designs are no guarantee of success. The upcoming Dragonflight expansion is now in alpha and new in-game models have appeared accordingly – including for the leader of the red dragonflight: Alexstrasza. Feedback on the new face? Mixed.

New in-game model of Alexstrasza in WoW: Dragonflight
The artwork for her had already shown that the dragon lady in her humanoid and draconic form was getting a general overhaul (for example in the headline of this article), but now it is also officially known what she looks like in the game as a 3D model:
There are already over 640 comments on the Reddit thread about this new look. And many of the top comments aren’t exactly enthusiastic. A user writes sarcastically “I think they need to add more spikes”what another with “Alexstrasza is literally just wearing a Horde Demon Hunter PvP armor set. That’s all I can think of.” The resentment becomes clearer with “Why is the model so ugly? The 2008 model is much better. What happened Blizzard?”
Some WoW fans would also prefer the Heroes of the Storm look for Alexstrasza: “Can we just grab the HOTS model and put it in WoW (buy now ) install? Because this is SO much better…” or “HoT’s Alexstrasza model is still the best” can be found in the comments.

New Alexstrasza in WoW: Deadly outfit – for the wearer
How incredibly impractical the outfit appears to a user becomes clear in his detailed assessment of her armor set:
“She can’t tilt her head from left to right because then she’ll be impaled by shoulder spikes. She can’t bend down, that would put a spike in her stomach. She can’t crouch, otherwise she’ll get a spike in thighs. She has to be careful with her arms so she doesn’t stick a spike. I’m all for style over substance, and a dragon probably wouldn’t give a shit either, but what is that?”

Or in short in another comment: “Not bad, but… far too much detail. Every little piece is ‘overdesigned’, it’s really exhausting to look at this picture.” Do you also see it like that? Do you miss the 2008 look? Are you crying after her cropped outfit? Write us your opinion in the comments!
