WoW: Dragonflight: Master Hunter Hemet Nesingwary is back… and retired
He is probably the most famous hunter of Azeroth: the dwarf Hemet Nesingwary! A lot happened on the hunt while we were out in the shadow lands. Because Hemet returns in WoW: Dragonflight, but is now retired and hired out as a carriage driver.
Throughout the time our heroes have spent in the Shadowlands, we have often wondered where actually Hemet Nesingwary stayed. After all, the Shadowlands did have some massive…well, animal-like creatures at least to hunt. Instead, however, he stayed behind in Azeroth and was never seen again. The last appearance of the dwarf was during the Battle for Azeroth on Zandalar.
A lot must have happened in the meantime. Of course, Hemet Nesingwary is part of the first expedition that sets off towards the Dragon Islands and actively supports them. However, without a gun. As Hemet clarifies in several conversations, he has collected enough trophies for ten lifetimes and now works as a carriage driver. Neither his eyes nor his hands are the youngest, but it’s enough for the reins. And so he could contribute his part to the expedition!
Then we hunt for him!
The fact that Hemet no longer hunts doesn’t mean that he doesn’t know his way around the animal kingdom anymore. And so he’s noticed some problems while traversing his routes through the Azure Mountains. But these are very different from what we are used to from him. Instead of seeing hunting as a sport where the better hunter wins, Nesingwary now wants to help the flora and fauna. And so he has several quests in his luggage – depending on where we meet him.

Because good Hemet is always on the move between the different camps in the Azure Mountains. Arrived in a camp, he stays there for about seven minutes and offers you a quest in this area. Then he travels on in his carriage. If you wish, he can even take you with him. A total of six quests are available to you at Hemet – one at each travel station and two in his base camp (Camp Antonidas).
- Camp Antonidas: Old Stonecutter – Here you have to put an ancient mammoth out of its misery.
- Camp Antonidas: A shadow in the ice – A wild beast roams around the camp, terrifying the local fauna. Take care of this beast!
- Camp in the Nowhere: The Hunt for the Master Hunter – For once, you don’t have to hunt down an animal, but a ruthless poacher who slaughters animals indiscriminately.
- Theron’s Watch: The Face of Death – You must slay a polar bear that is threatening and dangerous to the Tuskarr residents.
- Ronin’s Shield: Correct the Pack – Kill the leader of the Yeti before the raids on innocent travelers become rampant!
- Iskaraa: protect and escort – You must protect the local fauna from a rampaging Rhino by killing the latter.
Did you miss the good Hemet Nesingwary too? Can you still remember his sprawling quest series in Stranglethorn Vale, where we felt like we had to exterminate half of Azeroth’s animal population? Maybe that no longer fits Blizzard’s philosophy and the devs have therefore retired the master hunter? Maybe the devs were also afraid that Hemet would come up with the idea of hunting dragons or dracthyr… who knows.
