Mortal Kombat the Second: Film’s Director Reportedly Returns for Sequel

The director of the first Mortal Kombat film will also reportedly direct part two.

Since January we have known that New Line Cinema is working on a sequel to the highly successful Mortal Kombat film adaptation. As deadline reports, then-director Simon McQuoid will be on board again this time. Deadline does not name the sources for this.

Released in 2021, the film follows young MMA fighter Cole Young as he fights to protect the earth from the dark forces of Outworld in one final major tournament. However, this competition for the fate of the world is not entirely fair.

on Metacritic the film didn’t exactly deliver a brilliant performance. The adaptation received only 44 points. But that hasn’t changed his financial success. Let’s see how the successor will do.
