PS5: American woman files class action lawsuit against Sony because the console crashes

An American accuses Sony of knowingly hiding a defect in the PlayStation 5 that causes crashes and has filed a class action lawsuit.

Plaintiff Christina Trejo filed the class action lawsuit against Sony Corporation of America on July 12 in federal court in Illinois.

What is the problem?

According to the plaintiff, the PS5 has a defect that causes the console to suddenly turn off while playing, which often results in game progress being lost.

“While the PS5 can be used for many entertainment purposes, playing video games on the console is its primary function,” is it[called. “The defect affects users’ ability to play video games, thus affecting the main function and overall use of the PS5.”

Trejo claims Sony knew about the defect through repair requests, online complaints, and its own online service resources.

The allegation: “Although the defendant was aware of the defect in the console, he failed to inform consumers of this defect before purchasing the PS5 and has continued to take no significant action to correct the problem.”

Several months after purchasing the PlayStation 5, Trejo’s console began crashing regularly. If she had known about this, she would not have bought the console at all or only at a lower price.

She is suing, among other things, for violations of Illinois consumer protection laws, and she also wants damages, an assumption of costs and a hearing before a jury.
