The sandbox game “Minecraft” is still one of the most played titles worldwide, but only gives the rising crypto market a hard rejection. Developer Mojang bans all types of NFTs in his game and wants to take a stand against the “artificial shortage of digital goods”.

The approach of NFTs, blockchain and Co. is not compatible with equal access to its game world, says Mojang in one blog entry. Any trading of digital property shall immediately prohibited will. This applies to Minecraft worlds, skins, items and all other existing mods.

The ban is intended to prevent a “haves and have-nots scenario” from being generated in their game. The hunt for NFTs detracts from the actual game as well as the philosophy behind it and therefore does not get along with the fun of the game.

In principle, one does not want to forbid the fans to earn money with Minecraft. Just Third party NFTs but sees Mojang as extremely critical and not reliable and thus wants to protect their community.

It is not yet clear exactly how the NFT ban will be implemented. However, Mojang wants to keep a close eye on current developments in the blockchain market and adapt its methods accordingly. But you have no proprietary blockchain technology planned.

As a direct result of the announcement, prices for Minecraft-based NFTs plummeted. This includes, for example, “NFT Worlds”, which has lost value of more than 70% had to accept.
