Please don't use our WLAN stick from 2005 anymore, says Nintendo

Do you still use the WiFi stick that Nintendo released in 2005 here and there?

You should stop this immediately, as the company has now announced.

A security risk

Officially dubbed the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, the device plugs into the PC and allows the Nintendo DS to access the Internet wirelessly.

However, according to Nintendo, if you continue to use it, there is a risk that your computer could become the target of “unauthorized access” or become infected with a virus.

More Nintendo news:

How many people actually still use the device these days is unclear. The warning also applies to the Wi-Fi Network Adapter from 2008, which was only released in Japan.

“For security reasons, we ask customers who are currently using the product to stop doing so immediately and switch to a commercially available network device,” it says.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
