This is what Resident Evil 4 would look like as a PS1 game
From time to time we report fascinating demakes. Games like Bloodborne, Resident Evil 8, Elden Ring or Death Stranding have already been given a look by fans that is very similar to the PlayStation 1 remind. These titles can now also Resident Evil 4 join. Finally, it has become the Spanish modder Biohazard Spain tasked with making the game, first released in 2005, a PS1 title. But it should not stop with a presentation of the graphic style.
According to the modder, the project should be playable on all systems on which PS1 titles can be played in the future. However, the project is not particularly advanced, after all, it has only been in development for just under a month. Despite this, Biohazard España was already able to recreate the iconic opening ten minutes of Resident Evil 4 in a PS1 look and provide a taste of what’s to come.
Demake with differences
It is already known that the demake will not replicate the fourth part of the series one-to-one. Rather, the aim of the project is to build Resident Evil 4 as if it were originally developed as a PS1 game. Accordingly, the gameplay video of the first ten minutes is very reminiscent of the first three Resident Evil parts, which appeared on the first Playstation at the time. For example, you don’t experience Leon with a dynamic camera, but control the action from numerous static perspectives.
Contrast to the remake
Particularly impressive is the discrepancy not only between the demake and the Gamecube original, but especially between the PS1 variant and the recently announced remake of the game. It remains to be seen when and if the demake will finally be published. Just for the release of the remake, which will be released on March 24, 2023 for personal computer, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S appears, Resident Evil 4 in PS1 guise would be a nice contrast.
