Destiny 2: Banshee will give you a lot more love in Season 18
After two seasons of adjusting the Weapon Master’s reputation system, the developers of Destiny 2 have decided that Banshee-44 doesn’t give you enough reputation for completing bounties and dismantling items. That’s why there’s more reputation with Season 18, starting August 23, 2022! Weee!
Good news for just about any Guardian looking to protect our solar system from darkness! After revamping Weapon Master Banshee-44’s reputation system with the release of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Bungie developers realized that they may have been a little stingy with the reputation that bounties and dismantling weapons and armor bring you . And that’s why the stats will be buffed, starting with the start of Season 18 on August 23, 2022.
Why is this more complicated with Banshee?
The following happened with Witch Queen: Master of Arms Banshee-44 in the courtyard of the tower was adjusted to the meanwhile proven reputation system of Zavala, Shaxx and Co. in terms of the reward structure. However, there is one important difference between Banshee and the other traders: In order to gain reputation, you can not only do relatively simple bounties, but also disassemble items – as compensation for the fact that you are not allowed to gain additional reputation with Banshee in any activity in the game.
At the same time, the weapon master reputation in the old system could be increased almost endlessly, precisely because the dismantling of equipment is not subject to a weekly maximum. It would also be stupid if you could disassemble a maximum of 100 items per week. At other retailers, such as Shaxx, you earn additional reputation by completing competitive activities that require a certain investment of time. Of course, this reputation isn’t capped either, but there is a significant difference between “I’ll disassemble a few items” and “I’ll play a few strikes now”.
Long story short, Bungie developers had to find a sweet spot with the overhauls to Banshee’s reputation system for the amount of reputation you gain per item dismantled. There was no model for this in the game until now. And the results after two seasons now show that Banshee should give you more reputation. So what happens in season 18?
More love from the armorer
With the start of Season 18, completing daily Gunsmith bounties will grant you 50 Renown; previously it was 25 points. Furthermore, you get 5 reputation points instead of 3 for dismantling legendary and exotic weapons and armor. The goal behind it is clear: “Overall, we want dedicated players to be able to reset Banshee-44’s reputation at least once per season,” so Economy Feature Lead Joshua Kulinski in the TWAB of July 21, 2022.
