Oops! Pokémon GO apparently gives trainers a monster that doesn’t even exist yet

Actually, the new monster Voltriant should not come to Pokémon GO until the beginning of August. But a trainer reports an early catch – but may have to do without another monster.

What is this Pokemon? Voltriant is one of the Ultra Beasts. These are strange, parasitic monsters from another dimension that are similar in strength to legendary Pokémon. In addition to strong values, they are also characterized by rather unusual designs.

Voltriant, a spooky Electro-type Tree Monster, is set to make an appearance as an exclusive bonus at GO Fest Sapporo soon – between August 5th and 7th. But: The first Voltriant in Pokémon GO has apparently already been caught.

No Shaymin, but Voltriant – trainer reports strange error

This is the find: As user “SnooPredictions” on reddit describes, he apparently made a mistake during the GO Fest in Seattle. Instead of Shaymin’s zenith form, which you were supposed to get there, he got Voltriant (Xurkitree).

Among other things, it shows the catch screen including WP (1669), the special Ultra Ball and the Pokédex registration. It looks like there was actually an error here – but there is no official information from Niantic yet.

In the Pokémon GO subreddit, the user “SnooPredictions” posts his catch (via reddit).

What other coaches say: Basically, the error is considered unusual and curious.

However, some also note that getting Voltriant instead of Zenithform Shaymin might even be unfortunate. They assume Voltriant will get into raids in the long run anyway – they’re not entirely sure about Zenitform Shaymin.

As soon as there is more information on how to deal with the error, we will keep you posted. For now, though, the trainer seems to be the first to call a Voltriant their own.

More new Pokémon are coming soon. The Hisui Discoveries event brings some monsters from the region of the same name. And thanks to the new Ultra Bonus, there are even a few bonuses.
