Rumor: Marvel hero Black Panther is set to get his own game

Marvel is currently making waves with the gigantic load of announcements at yesterday’s San Diego Comic-Con, which revealed the new Avengers films The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, among others. But all of this moves purely in the cosmos of films and series, in matters video games Marvel fans are currently sitting dry.

After the recent unsuccessful excursion with Marvel’s Avengers and the much more popular title to the Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel currently has no new superhero video games in the pipeline apart from Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine (both in development at Insomniac) – at least officially. Because now are rumours surfaced that EA took part in a game about Wakanda’s protector Black Panthers (buy now €9.99) should work.

Project Rainier: Alleged open world game starring Black Panther

The rumor came from a journalist and industry insider Jeff Grubbfollowing the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer yesterday on twitter announced he wanted to be in a stream today about that Black Panther video game talk and almost casually let the big black cat out of the bag.

As Grubb specified in his stream, the game is currently under the name “Project Rainier” and will likely be developed by a new studio at EA formed last year led by former Monolith Productions boss Kevin Stephens. Fans should focus on one Single player game with open world happy, but the game is still in an early development phase.

Players are supposed to become the new Black Panther in the supposedly upcoming title – because the Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away from cancer on December 17, 2020, the role of King T’Challawho appeared in a black suit as Wakanda’s protector, namely to be recast.
