Black Desert: First player in Europe reaches level 67 after 837 days of grind - Here's how he did it

There is no maximum level in the MMORPG Black Desert. However, the curve of required experience increases with each new level. The German player Florian aka RisingSun has reached level 67 as the first European. We at MeinMMO asked him about his tricks and motivations for leveling.

How long did it take him to level 67? In 2020 we reported that RisingSun was the first player from Europe to reach level 66. Now, just over two years later, he’s again the first European to step up to the next level:

  • He reached level 66 on March 27, 2020.
  • On January 11, 2022, he reached the milestone of 50% of the required experience points to level 67.
  • On July 8, 2022 he managed to level up.

It is noticeable that the first 50% took significantly longer than the second 50%. That’s because there’s a new, fast way to level up. In addition, motivation increases the closer you get to the goal.

By the way, you can watch the level-up to level 67 in this clip, because RisingSun is active on Twitch as a PvEnvironment:

By the way, the first player to reach level 67 worldwide was an American. He succeeded in doing this in March 2022.

Mixture of active grind and AFK on the doll

How did RisingSun level? In an interview with MeinMMO, the player revealed the three methods he used. He grinded the most at Gyfin Rhasia Temple.

This was revised on February 9, 2022. So the lower parts have been changed to grind spots for solo players. Also, a new gear slot has been added with the major winter expansion: the Artifacts. Additional XP buffs can be gained via this (via BlackDesertFoundry).

So at the Gyfin Rhasia Temple with all the buffs that are available, you get about 0.05% experience points per hour. So leveling from 66 to 67 there would take 2,000 hours of grind alone. You also need 300 AP and 380 DP to farm there without any problems.

The second other methods used were:

  • The Red Battlefield (PvP). But to really be successful here, you have to snipe rounds where you’ll join them later, just before lockdown. This lock occurs 10 minutes before the end of the round. So, and with additional quests, you can earn about 0.1% experience per hour.
  • The training dummies. There you pay silver and then automatically hit the dolls by the hour without having to be on the PC yourself. This brings about 0.008% of experience points per hour.

RisingSun also emphasizes that leveling on the battlefield is not very popular in the community. Many who level up don’t care much about the outcome of the round and often don’t see any active PvP players.

Why is he doing this grind anyway? RisingSun responded to this question:

Is there a reason for this, I always ask myself. For me, the grind with multiple goals, i.e. experience points and silver, makes more sense than the pure grind for money. The positive feedback from many people motivates and confirms me.

In 2020 he also emphasized in our interview that he could also use the grind to distract himself from the crap he had been through. We at MeinMMO have also experienced this ourselves:

If people want to grind high levels themselves, RisingSun definitely recommends the Gyfin Rhasia Temple. This is the third best place to make money and by far the best place to farm XP. Leveling up from 64 to 65 and 65 to 66 should “only” take a few weeks there.

If you want to get to level 61 in the first place, you can use our level guide for beginners.

In general, however, he recommends playing and enjoying Black Desert and other games in the way that is most fun for you.

Is RisingSun leveling up to 68 now? No, at least it is currently not his goal to be the first to reach level 68. However, there is a possibility that in two years we will report again that RisingSun has set a new level record.

What do you think of this special success? Could you imagine grinding hundreds or thousands of hours in one place?

While Black Desert is still a huge success, a spin-off of the game is now closing on Steam:
