According to new reports, Electronic Arts also wants to cut off a piece of the Marvel cake.

The publisher is said to be working on a single-player open-world game for Black Panther.

At an early stage

At least that’s what journalist Jeff Grubb claims in Giant Bomb’s latest Game Mess Mornings stream.

According to him, Electronic Arts wants to build on the success of Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

The project is in a “very early stage of development” and your goal in the game is to overcome numerous challenges to become the new Black Panther.

Internally, the project is said to be codenamed “Project Rainier.” A possible reference to Mount Rainier in Washington. EA’s new studio in Seattle, which is headed by former Monolith Productions boss Kevin Stephens, is to take care of the development.

Stephens, who previously oversaw development of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War at Monolith, joined EA in May 2021. At the time, it was confirmed that his studio was working on a new open-world action-adventure, which would fit current rumours.
