Dark Souls 3: PC online servers could return soon
Dark Souls 3 online servers may be available again soon on PC.
At least that could be hinted at by a new update for the game that Souls YouTuber Lance McDonald is coming up with SteamDB discovered.
Hope dies last
It’s the first patch for Dark Souls 3 in years, so fans have hope that the online servers will return with it.
Earlier this year, Bandai Namco “temporarily disabled” the online servers for part three, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls: Remastered, following reports of a serious security vulnerability. The publisher announced at the time that the servers would return, but did not give a timeframe for this.
More news about Dark Souls 3:
The vulnerability allowed access to other people’s PCs. After the details of the exploit were made public in March by one of the people who discovered the vulnerability, Bandai Namco and From Software were forced to take the servers offline.
The vulnerability is also present in Dark Souls 1. Probably the same in Demon’s Souls, although there is no confirmation of this yet. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is also affected, but there is currently no way to use the exploit there.
Bandai Namco have pushed a new Dark Souls 3 update to folks with access to some of the debug branches on Steam for the first time in many years. Probably testing new patches for upcoming server restoration. pic.twitter.com/v6o4DrJ5io
