The kitchen is perhaps the most important room in every apartment, but only those who can organize it well will feel comfortable in it. These seven tips for more order ensure that the chaos between the fridge and the stove finally comes to an end!

The basis of every tidy kitchen is a thorough clean-up. Empty all cupboards and sort generously. Whether it’s ancient mugs with a motif, blunt and old knives, double kitchen appliances or warped crockery – you’re guaranteed to find a lot of junk that you no longer need. So away with it! Once you’ve stripped down your kitchen to the essentials, it becomes a lot easier to organize and keep it clean on a regular basis.
Order in the drawer
Over time, all sorts of small plastic containers such as food storage containers that are not used most of the time and just take up space. Use them sensibly! Figure out how many cans you actually use on a regular basis and use the rest as a drawer organizer. Especially in the junk drawer for this and that, which inevitably arises in almost every kitchen at some point, a system of order cannot hurt.
So: batteries in one plastic tray, rubber bands in another, pens in a third. If you don’t have a dish drawer divider, you can also use this method to organize knives, forks, and spoons neatly. And even outside of the kitchen, you can bring order to the drawer in no time at all.
Use hidden areas
A kitchen with its numerous cupboards and storage areas offers many possibilities for organizational systems that often remain unused. For example, you can use the inside of your cupboards to attach holders for crockery, cutlery or groceries. There is also plenty of space under the wall cupboards – how about a spice rack made of screw-top jars, for example? In this way, you transport a large factor of clutter to a space-saving location that would otherwise simply remain free.
Store supplies in jars
Plastic bags with dry basic foods such as pasta, rice or lentils take up a lot of space in drawers and can only be stacked extremely ugly. Storage jars into which you fill the food and which then find space on a hanging shelf are much neater and more attractive. This type of storage is also perfect for other small ingredients such as sugar, salt and flour. In order to avoid misunderstandings, you should better label the salt and sugar glasses in particular.
Short distances
Of course, the kitchen should not only be comfortable, it is also a work space. Therefore, store your utensils in such a way that you have them within easy reach for every activity: pots, pans, cooking utensils and spices near the stove, cutlery within reach of the sink or dishwasher, crockery near the dining table. With wall brackets for pans or cooking utensils on the back wall of the kitchen above the stove, you can save valuable space. Knives are in one knife block or stored on a magnetic strip ready to hand and safer than in a drawer.
Use closet space wisely
Kitchen cupboards often have a lot of unused space: If you put a few plates in, the space above in the compartment usually remains empty. With an organization system in the closet, you create a lot of additional storage space – for example with extendable curtain rods, which allow the storage of boards, plates and Co. in the vertical! So everything is neatly lined up next to each other and still ready to hand at all times. Also works in drawers!
Open up new levels
There are many ways to create additional storage space in the kitchen in a small space. Think three-dimensionally: why a fruit plate when it can also be a fruit pyramid on which there is also space for pots with herbs? In an unused corner of the kitchen, it is easy to create an additional storage container using a basket suspended from the ceiling.
