Pokémon Go: Daily Adventure Smoke – what is it?!

While most Pokémon Go veterans would be happy if the developers at Niantic a little more effort with the features present in the game the Pokemon Go folks would rather throw a new feature at us: Adventure Smoke. This new consumable, which some players can already obtain through the special research A Mystery Smoke, is designed to attract rarer Pokémon for 15 minutes a day – but only when you’re out for a walk. If you stay in place for 15 minutes, next to nothing will happen. Logical. Niantics want you out of the house…

Adventure Smoke: The Rules

The Adventure Smoke is available daily and you can only have one in your inventory at a time – but it doesn’t count against the bag’s item limit. “Daily adventure smoke lasts 15 minutes after it is activated. If you go for a walk during this period, you may encounter Pokémon that are otherwise rarely found in the wild,” the developers promise. Let’s see how many rare mon really show up…

Furthermore, the following rules apply:

• You can only have Adventure Smoke OR Normal Smoke active, not both at the same time.
• You will only get your first adventure smoke after completing the special research A Mysterious Smoke.
• Once you have used up your daily adventure smoke, it will disappear from the bag until the next reset.
• You will get 30 Poké Balls from the Daily Adventure Smoke if you have no more than 30 Poké Balls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls in total in your inventory.
• If you catch Pokémon during the 15-minute duration of the Daily Adventure Smoke, you’ll see a summary of all the Pokémon you’ve caught at the end.

A Mysterious Smoke: Part 1

Accompanying the introduction of the new item, there is a special research that will introduce you to the use of daily adventure smoke. In step 1 you don’t have to do much more than pick up the item. You’ll also get 1,000 XP for completing it. Part 2 of A Mystery Smoke includes the following steps and rewards:

• Use 1 Daily Adventure Smoke – Reward: 1,000 XP
• Use 1 Daily Adventure Smoke to catch 10 Pokémon – Reward: 1,000 XP
• Run 1 kilometer – Reward: 1,000 XP

Reward for completing Step 1: 25 x Poké Ball, encounter with Ponyta, 500 Stardust

A Mysterious Smoke: Part 2 – Step 2/2

• Use 6 Daily Adventure Smoke – Reward: 1,000 XP
• Use Daily Adventure Smoke to catch 100 Pokémon – Reward: 1,000 XP
• Run 10 kilometers – Reward: 1,000 XP

Reward for completing Step 2: 2,500 XP, encounter with – not yet known – , 2,500 Stardust
