FIFA 23: These features are exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia

Electronic Arts has confirmed the current-gen exclusive features of FIFA 23, while showing the differences between each version.

As we previously reported, the PC version is finally catching up with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this year. Together with Google Stadia, they are on the same level. That also means there are things there that you won’t find on PS4 and Xbox One. Let’s not talk about the Legacy Edition of the Nintendo Switch.

The next generation HyperMotion

The focus of attention in the current-gen version is the HyperMotion2 technology. Here, recordings of real matches are combined with machine learning to produce more than 6,000 animations.

Using so-called Xsens suits, EA Sports recorded two full soccer matches with professional teams, including one with women, to get special animations for them.

Also exclusive to the current generation is Technical Dribbling, which incorporates the Active Touch system from previous games. It is intended to better calculate a player’s path to the ball. Spinning players and dribbling should feel more responsive this way.

It is the default dribbling system on the platforms mentioned and is used with the left stick. Any player can do this, but of course the efficiency depends on the player’s dribbling stats.

In return, sprinting should feel better and more responsive, so to speak as a counter to technical dribbling.

Moving on to interestingly titled game systems, we come to AcceleRATE (seriously, I’m not making this up). This divides players into different archetypes. Most players are meant to fall into the standard Controlled category, but there are also Explosive and Lengthy.

“Explosive” applies to players who are likely to do better at close range and in one-on-one situations. “Lengthy” includes players who are fast but need a moment to get up to speed. Apart from that, acceleration and sprinting speed remain the determining factors in a player’s speed.

“Composed Ball Striking” is related to HyperMotion2. It is designed to provide better transitions in finishing situations where the ball needs to be controlled first.

On the other hand, goalkeepers should react better in penalty area situations when they are in a duel with a player who wants to head the ball. Other current-gen exclusive features include better offside detection, sprinting to outpace opponents, defender placement, and improved Tactical AI. Likewise, defenders should react faster and return to their original position.

Something is also happening in physics. When the ball hits players, you can now see how their feet, legs or even the goalkeeper’s fingers are pushed aside by the force. Even the goal net is now properly simulated just to make it look more realistic.

In addition, in the current-gen versions, you will see new scenes during a match, including new audience reactions and additional chants.

FIFA 23 will be released on September 30, 2022 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Google Stadia.
