What is the Ronaldo cheer? Portuguese soccer star Christiano Ronaldo runs, then leaps up, spinning in the air and yelling a long-drawn-out “Siuuu” at the top of his lungs while stretching out his arms (via youtube).

The “siuuu” has no real meaning, it’s a long drawn out “yes” that came to his mind and has been used ever since. The celebration is now iconic.

But he slipped and landed his head on the ground so unhappily that his left eye swelled up and he couldn’t open it.

Shortly thereafter he said:

I’ve never been in pain like this, it’s really crazy. Just for the cheers, I still can’t figure it out. Actually, Christiano Ronaldo should come visit me for that.

But the YouTuber still thought that it was just a swelling that would go down over time.

So he had to go to the hospital and got really scared there on Monday July 25th:

If I’m unlucky, I’ll lose sight in my left eye and be blind because the inflammation is too severe. I can’t believe how something like this can happen. I pray to God.

Then everything turned for the better:

This is how it went: However, this worst-case scenario did not materialize. On Tuesday, the YouTuber gave the all-clear: everything is on the mend. The wound is still well inflamed, but is cleaned every day.

On Instagram there’s the message: “Don’t worry. I’ll be out soon.”
