New AMD software 22.7.1: noise filter, OpenGL boost and RSR update

from Maximilian Hohm
AMD’s Software: Adrenalin Edition 22.7.1 is an optional update for AMD pixel accelerator owners. It offers AMD’s new noise suppression, a performance boost in OpenGL and broader support for the driver-side upscaler Radeon Super Resolution (RSR). Read more about this below.

AMD has released AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition 22.7.1. This is an optional update, but it should have it all. In addition to the usual bug fixes, which can hardly be avoided with highly complex drivers, there should be three central innovations, each of which could justify a new version. These are AMD Noise Suppression, OpenGL optimizations and a significant update for Radeon Super Resolution (RSR).

AMD now also with temporary price reductions: Game On for Radeon RX 6000 and Ryzen 5000

AMD’s Noise Suppression is designed as an answer to Nvidia’s RTX Voice, which can filter disruptive ambient noise from voice chats using deep learning. The functionality is almost the same with a real-time deep learning algorithm and AMD’s solution can also be used for input and output devices. So far, the technology has only been supported by the Ryzen 5000 processors and the RX 6000 graphics cards. Another innovation is the optimization of OpenGL performance, which AMD has had problems with for a long time. With the change from Radeon Software Adrenalin 22.6.1 to 22.7.1, the performance of a Radeon RX 6950 XT under OpenGL should increase by up to 79 percent, while the Radeon RX 6400 can increase by up to 75 percent.

Radeon Super Resolution is AMD’s upscaler that can be used on the driver side and does not require dedicated support from the game. Support for RSR has been extended with the new driver to notebooks with discrete Radeon RX 5000 and RX 6000 graphics solutions, which also offer a Ryzen processor with hybrid graphics.
