PS2 VR Headset: Sony announces more technical details

PS2 VR Headset (Hardware) von Sony Japan

The new VR headset for the Playstation 5 is already on the shopping list of many players. Now Sony is announcing a few new details about the VR glasses – a release date is not included.

With Horizon: Call of the Mountain, the first first-party game for the upcoming PSVR2 headset has already been presented, now Sony is talking about the technical framework in which the visually promising monster chase and other VR games will be realized.

With a practical passage view

The novel pass-through view enables the player to visualize the real environment at the touch of a button without having to remove the VR glasses. Using the PSVR2’s integrated front cameras, the function button on the headset can simply be pressed – or the player can use the corresponding display in the Control Center to switch between viewing the environment and displaying a VR game.

With the map in the control center, the playing area can also be determined without much effort. To do this, the player simply marks out an area with the controller and is warned accordingly when playing when he approaches a boundary of this area. It is also possible to film yourself playing if you have the appropriate camera for the Playstation 5.

With VR and cinema mode

In VR mode, the glasses provide a 360-degree view of VR gaming in a virtual environment. Content is displayed in HDR video format with a resolution of 4000 x 2040 (2000 x 2040 per eye) and a frame rate of 90Hz/120Hz. In cinema mode, the user interface and all content is displayed on a virtual cinema screen. The display is in HDR video format with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 24/60 Hz and a frame rate of 120 Hz.

However, there is still no exact release date for the PS VR2, and Sony has not yet communicated a price.
