Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Work on the remake is on hold

Elden Ring: Einige Spieler haben den Titel bereits erhalten und teilen Spoiler im Internet

The remake of the role-playing game Knights of the Old Republic failed to convince the reviewers from Sony and Lucasfilm in an internal showcase. Work on it has been suspended for the time being.

In September 2021, Sony announced a new edition of the Star Wars role-playing game classic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (from 1.80€ at buy), the fans were of course more than delighted. The prospect of being able to embark on the fantastic journey alongside the loud-mouthed robot HK-47 in a new look and with some playful quality-of-life improvements on the Playstation 5 was just too good. But the development does not seem to be going well.

Trouble in the greenlight meeting

It’s a normal part of the development of a video game: every now and then the backer will stop by to see what’s going on and ask about the current status of their investment. Aspyr Media, who is currently working on the remake of Knights of the Old Republic on behalf of Sony, felt the same way.

The presentation doesn’t seem to have gone very well: Shortly after the internal showcase, Sony and Lucasfilm Games announced that Aspyr Media should no longer be working on the game and further development will be stopped for the time being.

How the game will continue now is written in the stars. It can be assumed that another studio will now be commissioned with the completion, but an official announcement is still pending.
