The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow: New Game Announced by Wadjet Eye – News

Dave Gilbert and his company Wadjet Eye Games remain true to the adventure genre. After talking to several people who know what they’re talking about, it was agreed that incantation is a bit difficult for some people to remember, spell or pronounce. Interestingly, The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow was our original working title for the game!

Working with Wadjet Eye has allowed us to expand and polish the game far beyond our initial hopes. The game now has full voice acting with great professional actors and will also be released for Mac and Linux!

In addition to the atmospheric pixel look with a number of hand-drawn cutscenes, the point-and-click adventure should offer modern mouse control and traditional puzzles. The story takes you to the remote village of Bewlay, England and aims to create an eerie folk horror atmosphere by drawing on elements of real English folklore. As antiquarian Thomasina Bateman, you are currently writing a book about the burial mounds of England and the treasures buried within. A strange letter calls you and your assistant to Bewlay, but upon arrival you cannot find the mysterious sender or your assistant. The suspicious villagers are no help either. And then the strange dreams begin…

While there’s no firm release date yet, according to the developer, the game is now “99% complete,” so it shouldn’t be too long.
