No more annoying app advertising on Android: Google is setting new rules for the Play Store

from Oliver Jaeger
From the end of September, Google will have new advertising regulations for developers who want to offer their apps in the Play Store. Particularly long, non-skippable advertisements that appear at the most inopportune times when using the app should then be a thing of the past.

The purpose of advertising is to entice people to buy the advertiser’s products or to become aware of companies, service providers, etc. At the same time, this is often quite annoying, for example as an interruption to series and films or when it suddenly appears on websites or in other applications in the most unfavorable places and situations and covers the user’s entire field of vision.

Google wants to stop annoying ads for apps in the Play Store

When it comes to apps on mobile devices, the developers like to take it to extremes with their advertisements. Sometimes the use of an app is completely interrupted by an advertising block for several seconds. Sometimes even before the app has even started or in the case of a gaming app even in the middle of the level.

So that Android users will soon be relieved of this, Google is said to want to set up new rules for its Play Store that apply to app developers who want to offer their applications with advertisements there. With the new regulations, Google wants to take action against the above-mentioned advertisements. If advertising is “pleasantly” placed, it is no problem for Google in the form of video insertions.

Specifically, the global corporation wants to take action against minute-long advertising that cannot be closed. After 15 seconds, the app user must be given the option to skip the ad. If there is an announcement of the advertising display in advance, it should also be allowed to run longer. The new regulations for the Play Store should apply from the end of September. If an app developer does not comply with the regulations, the applications can be blocked or, in extreme cases, developer accounts with Google can even be deleted.
