Pokémon GO launches Raid Tag with Hisui-Washakwil this weekend – how to use it properly

Pokémon GO Hisui Washakwil Shiny

A special raid day is running in Pokémon GO this weekend: Hisui-Washakwil is making its debut and you can catch it for the first time. There are also special bonuses – you can find an overview of everything here.

When is Raid Day? Raid Day will take place on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. During this time you should raid as much as you can.

The raid tag wasn’t originally part of the current Hisui event. However, it was added to the Event Calendar in Pokémon GO due to the Hyper Bonus being unlocked.

What is special about the event? There is a debut: The Hisui version of Washakwil will be available for the first time in Pokémon GO.

Hisui-Washakwil and All Bonuses – Is Raid Day Worth It?

What is this Pokemon? The normal Washakwil has been in the game longer than the development of Geronimatz. Now the “Hisui” version comes into play. Fans may already know them from “Pokémon Legends: Arceus”. There, Hisui Washakwil is also one of the companion Pokémon that you can use to fly from A to B.

Since it is practically a new Pokémon, it is worth catching it for the Pokédex entry in Pokémon GO alone. However, it will not be one of the best attackers in PvP, nor in raids and arenas. But there is still an exciting bonus for collectors.

Can Washakwil be shiny? Yes, and the chance of Shiny Washakwil will be increased during the raid day. Accordingly, you can try to get a new copy for your dazzling collection here.

How do I defeat Hisui Washakwil? Two trainers can probably be enough for Hisui-Washakwil if you use the right counters at a high level. However, to be on the safe side and get through it faster, you should go in with more trainers.

Since Hisui-Washakwil is a Psychic and Flying type, you can flatten it with Dark, Electric, Ghost, Ice, and Rock.

You can take advantage of these bonuses on Raid Day

The main bonus: To keep you raiding properly, spinning the Arena Photo Discs will give you five free Raid Passes during the event and up to two hours after.

It can be assumed that you will only get the next raid pass when the last one is used up – as you are used to from the daily pass. Accordingly, after you have completed a raid, you should always spin an arena disc again to get the next pass.

If you keep the free pass from the previous day (Saturday), you can theoretically complete six free raids. It can be worth it, because there are a few extra bonuses during the raid day.

These bonuses are still available: Besides Hisui-Washakwil, you can take advantage of various bonuses that apply to all raids that take place during the event period.

  • The chance of getting XL Special Candies from local raid battles is increased
  • 50% more XP for winning raid battles

The friendship bonus from the Hisui event is also still running:

  • Friendship level increases faster as you complete raid battles

Good XP opportunity on Raid Day: Since you already get 50% more XP from won raid battles anyway, you can use the raid day well to work your way up a little in terms of level.

Pokemon GO lucky egg
Lucky Eggs allow you to increase XP yield

If you ignite a lucky egg, you get double the raid XP for half an hour. This can really pay off if you work through as many raids as possible in a row over the course of this time. So it’s best to play in a place with numerous arenas in order to be able to complete raids in quick succession.

In addition, you may be able to use the raid tag to use your friendship level to collect XP. Because: The friendship level caps are one of the best ways to farm XP.

  • There are 50,000 XP (100,000 with Lucky Egg) for jumping to hyper friends.
  • Jumping to “Best Friend” even brings 100,000 XP (200,000 with Lucky Egg).

Since the friendship level increases faster with completing raids, this is a good opportunity to collect the XP if you should play together with your Pokémon GO friends.

But timing is important here – if you see that the jump to the next friendship level is imminent, a lucky egg can also be worthwhile here.

In addition to the Hisui event, you can go on a Pokémon hunt with the Adventure Smoke – at least if you already have it unlocked. If you don’t know the feature yet: Niantic recently answered the most frequently asked questions about the new smoke.
