Sherlock Holmes vs. Cthulhu: Frogwares announces remake of one of its first games

Following last year’s Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, Frogwares is returning to its roots.

The developer studio’s next project is a remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, one of the first Frogwares games.

Play it safe

In The Awakened, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to do with the Cthulhu cult. The remake should contain the original on the one hand, but also improved game systems and new content that fit Chapter One.

This also means revised graphics, new soundtracks and a better camera.

The decision for a remake was made by the Ukrainian studio also because of the ongoing war.

“We’ve always wanted to remake this game, but the war forced us to do it now,” producer Denys told Chebotarov Rock Paper Shotgun. In these times, it’s easier for the studio to fall back on an existing base than to try something completely new.

Part of the development is also to be financed via a Kickstarter campaign, which is due to the uncertainties in times of war.

“This war continues to present us with new challenges that require us to stop, regroup and adapt. It takes time, effort and, in some cases, money that would normally be used to fund the production of a game.”

A “safety net” is to be created via Kickstarter, with which it is possible for Frogwares to put the needs and safety of the team first.
