The streaming platforms do not seem to take vacations, and during the month of August interesting news continues to arrive on each of them. Proposals of all kinds, both in the field of series and in cinema, on platforms such as Filmin, Prime Video and Movistar Plus+. These are some of the most interesting things that we can find during this hot month.

Prime Video: new movies, series and documentaries

‘Samaritan’

Not even Sylvester Stallone himself is free from prying into the popular superhero genre, although in his case he is going to bet on something more crepuscular that fits with this stage of his career. This film by Julius Avery (‘Overlord’) follows the adventures of a superhero left for dead 20 years ago, but who may have to return to action due to growing crime and the conviction of a young teenager who asks for his help.

HBO Max premieres in August 2022: all the new series, movies and documentaries

Movistar+: new movies, series and documentaries

‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’

Following the much-discussed Netflix series based on the popular video games, another attempt at adaptation arrives at Movistar that sought to distance itself from the line marked by the first Paul WS Anderson saga. Its unremarkable stint in theaters makes it difficult for ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’ to continue its own saga, although it was a more than estimable and different version, with so many nods to games such as classic horror and action references ranging from the zombies from George A. Romero to John Carpenter, and also with a gratefully macabre sense of humor. He deserved better fortune at the time.
