EA Sports FC: EA secures the first licenses for the FIFA 23 successor and thus one of the largest leagues

The many licenses have always been an important pillar of this success. To ensure that this remains the case in the future, EA is already beginning to conclude new contracts. The first handshake is with the Spanish association LaLiga. Toni Kroos, Antonio Rüdiger and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are definitely part of the FIFA successor.
EA Sports FC should not be inferior to FIFA
It’s all about this: EA and FIFA will go their separate ways starting next year as the parties couldn’t agree on a contract extension. So the FIFA series will be history if the association doesn’t spontaneously find a new developer.
Allegedly, FIFA actually wants to launch its own product in the race against EA’s new EA Sports FC series, but how this will look like and when it will come is still in the stars. For now, EA will continue to dominate the football genre.
The first of many handshakes: It can therefore be assumed that most of the names and brands from FIFA 23 will make it into EA Sports FC, which will be released in 2023. So let’s start with LaLiga, which includes La Liga (Spain’s top football division), La Liga 2 (second division), La Liga Promises (youth league) and eLa Liga (eSports). According to the sports newspaper Marca, the deal will cost the publisher around 30 million euros a year (via eurogamers).

How to proceed with the licenses: As we reported last year, EA will retain most player and club licenses thanks to a new deal with FIFPRO – the players’ union representing 65,000 professionals in total. FIFA currently only delivers international competitions such as the World Cup in Qatar in addition to the name.
However, in recent years, individual clubs have repeatedly broken with EA to join Konami’s eFootball series. With Juventus Turin – still called Piemonte Calcio in FIFA 22 – a prominent club is returning this year and will also be represented exclusively in EA’s football simulations in the coming years.
