Guild Wars 2 has now been significantly improved for newcomers
The August 2nd, 2022 patch introduced an awesome change for newcomers to Guild Wars 2. It’s about the game’s mounts, which have become indispensable, but have so far been reserved for beginners.
A new patch has been released in Guild Wars 2 that brings various improvements and new features. While the Festival of the Four Winds is available again and offers new rewards and activities, the developers are busy adjusting the lousy warrior banner balancing. But a fantastic customization has also come into play for newcomers: Raptors for Beginners!
Raptor in Guild Wars 2 now just at level 10
The developers at Arenanet have realized that it’s stupid for beginners who already have access to Path of Fire or End of Dragons to have to leave the core areas of Tyria to unlock the Raptor. Therefore, from now on it is sufficient if any character of an account with an unlocked expansion (whether Path of Fire or End of Dragons) has reached level 10. Then the entire account gets access to the base Raptor mount.
Players who have reached level 80 and own Path of Fire are also eligible to unlock the masteries of this mount. Players of the Free2Play version of Guild Wars 2 (buy now €49.95) may try the Raptor mount for a 10-hour trial period once they reach level 10. Accordingly, it is then easier for them to decide whether they want to spend money once to unlock Path of Fire. (via arenanet)

Why is this change so important?
This change is a great addition, as previously the tip for beginners who already have access to Path of Fire was that they could play Path of Fire’s first mission to unlock the Raptor. Story-wise, of course, that’s completely wrong, because the story is incredibly far removed from the events that a newcomer is familiar with. Equally, however, it would be stupid to run through areas while everyone else is jetting around on raptors. From now on, every Guild Wars 2 player can use the increased speed of a mount and can explore the world faster.
