One Piece Red launches in Japan later this week. The fifteenth feature film in the franchise revolves around the singing talent Uta, who seems to be keeping a secret. So far, the story of the strip has been well kept under wraps except for a few pieces of information.

Here’s what One Piece Red is all about: In addition to the Straw Hat Pirates, the limelight belongs above all to Princess Uta, who lives on the music island of Elegia and is considered the most talented singer in the world. At the beginning of the film, Uta gives a live concert, which is attended by Luffy and his crew, as well as the navy and other pirates. As we already know, Uta is the daughter of the Pirate Emperor Shanks, an important mentor of Luffy.

Uta seems to be planning the beginning of a new era in which everyone should be happy. But whether Luffy can trust his old acquaintance is unclear. The official description of One Piece Red questions whether the singer-princess’ utopia is “eternal happiness or endless imprisonment”.

When is One Piece Red set? This is where the posters mentioned come into play. Typically, the films take place around the same time as the anime series, and that seems to be the case with One Piece Red as well. How do we get there? If you look closely, you can see that Zoro is carrying the sword Enma, which he obtains throughout the current Wano arc, which will be on hiatus for the theatrical release. So there’s a good chance that Red will kick in shortly after the Wano story.
