Since then, fans have been waiting in vain for further details. But thanks to a detailed and investigative article, players now know more. Apparently, Rockstar Games had to scale down its plans for GTA 6 significantly.

Gigantic plans for GTA 6: The developer from New York has been working on the next big part of the popular GTA series for years. That was probably clear to many fans for a long time, but many still wonder why the release of GTA 6 is taking so long. Rockstar Games has been working on the next Grand Theft Auto title since 2014, according to investigative journalist Jason Schreier’s latest article. Originally, three cities and four protagonists were planned for GTA 6. According to Axios, however, these plans had to be scaled back.

Schreier also confirms this in his article on Rockstar Games’ work culture and the effects on GTA 6. Schreier’s sources have probably indicated that the next title will have two protagonists. Among them will be a female main character for GTA 6 for the first time. The article also goes into the size of the map and the venues. A larger setting is said to have been originally planned, in which players would have ended up in North and South America.

However, these plans were scrapped. Instead, the developer from New York is currently focusing on a fictional version of Miami. Rockstar Games thus fulfills many fan wishes. Numerous players had requested a Vice City setting for GTA 6.

GTA 6: Game should be enlarged later with updates

GTA 6 will not be small: According to Bloomberg and Axios, the New York developer had to adjust his plans for GTA 6. One reason for this is the improved work culture, which now pays more attention to the mental and general health of employees. For this reason, Rockstar Games is now planning to continuously improve GTA 6 afterwards. After the release, regular updates should appear that improve the game and add more content. Despite everything, fans could get other cities, only for the release of GTA 6 they will probably concentrate on Miami.
