Update for Windows 11: Should fix a bug that slows down the PC

from Claus Ludewig
Microsoft is currently testing patch KB5016700 for Windows 11. This is intended to fix a bug that is making some PCs slower.

Some users of PCs with Windows 11 complain that the CPU usage is suddenly very high. This is the process called sihost.exe, also known as Shell Infrastructure Host. This process is a core Windows component that controls graphical effects such as the transparency effect on the taskbar and Start menu. A bug means that sihost.exe shows a CPU load of 16 percent, at least after a fresh installation of Windows 11. This error is fixed with the cumulative patch KB5016700.

Patch KB5016700 in Windows 11 is supposed to fix these bugs

Windows insiders are currently testing this Patched in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.450 and 22622.450. If no major showstoppers are reported, the update will be distributed at the latest with Windows 11 version 22H2 in autumn via Windows Update. In addition to the bug with the high CPU load, the update also brings Microsoft Defender for Endpoint with it, so that ransomware should be identified faster. The patch also fixes a display error where some apps only displayed a white screen in the task view.

If you use IE mode in Microsoft Edge, you should no longer have to struggle with crashes or hangs. Since June, Microsoft has officially buried Internet Explorer. IE has not received any updates since 2015, the last version Internet Explorer 11 dates from 2013 and debuted under Windows 8.1. Corporate customers in particular use Internet Explorer for certain websites.
