Date and time known – who can start when?

Activision has announced the exact times for Early Access and Open Beta for Modern Warfare 2. The date for the multiplayer reveal has also been set.

Santa Monica, California – This fall, Modern Warfare 2 continues one of Call of Duty’s most popular franchises. But even before the release, those interested in buying will be able to get their own first impression of the multiplayer – THE heart of every CoD title. And Activision has now announced the eagerly awaited date for the multiplayer reveal of Modern Warfare 2. We summarize who can get started with the beta, when, and when the multiplayer part will be officially unveiled.

What content does the Modern Warfare 2 Beta offer? Activision hasn’t revealed much about it yet. What you know so far:

• The traditional 6vs6 multiplayer is to be played
• Multiple maps and different modes will be available
• In the second time window, where all platforms can play, there will be crossplay
• In the beta you can unlock rewards for the finished game

In addition, Activision has already given a glimpse of one of the maps that will be playable as part of the beta. Here you can get a first impression of the “Marina Bay Grand Prix” map, which takes place on a Formula 1 circuit:

This is how the beta is structured: Now it is official! The Modern Warfare 2 beta ramps up in September and will run in two time slots and four phases in total. First up is the PlayStation platforms with early access and open beta. On the second long weekend, it’s PC and Xbox’s turn, with all PlayStation players also being able to let off steam freely during this period. More details will follow shortly.

Will the Modern Warfare Beta be preloaded? Activision has not yet provided any information on this. If a preload is possible, you will find out here as soon as possible, including all important details.

When is Modern Warfare 2 release? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released simultaneously on October 28, 2022 on all platforms.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Early Access Date and Time

Date and start time of Early Access the beta on PlayStation: September 16, 7:00 p.m. German time, until September 17.

Date and start time of Early Access the beta on PC and Xbox: September 22, 7:00 p.m. German time, until September 23.

How to get Early Access? There are two ways to get early access:

• guaranteed when you pre-order Modern Warfare 2 – then you will receive a beta key (for physical pre-orders) or be activated directly for the beta (for digital pre-orders).
• via promo key for the beta – for example from raffles, (official) giveaways, from streamers or other influencers.

PlayStation Open Beta date and start time: Part 1: September 18, 7:00 p.m. German time, until September 20 / Part 2: September 22, 7:00 p.m. German time, until September 26

Date and start time of the open beta on PC and Xbox: September 24, 7:00 p.m. German time, until September 26

Who can join the Open Beta? In principle, every prospective buyer who has the appropriate hardware – i.e. has a PC, a PS4/PS5 or an Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S at home. You don’t have to pre-order anything, nor do you need a key or anything like that.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Don’t miss the multiplayer reveal

When will Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer be revealed? Very little is currently known about the traditional multiplayer part of the game, the heart of every Call of Duty. However, that will change on September 15th, a day before the beta launches on PlayStation.

On this day, Activision is planning a whole series of info drops – including the exact content of the Modern Warfare 2 beta, the future of the in-house Battle Royale Warzone (probably Warzone 2) and just a first look and other details about traditional multiplayer of the game.
